Introduction / Foreword

Sarnafil International AG has a conscious commitment to the environment. For 40 years we have been aligning our activities and decisions with the needs of our customers and the demands of sustainable development.

We manufacture high-quality polymeric waterproofing systems for use in the fields of flat roofing, pitched roofing, and civil engineering. Our products are constantly being improved and our systems expanded. Sarnafil waterproofing membranes based on PVC and flexible polyolefin (FPO) meet the wide variety of needs and requirements of our customers. These membranes possess the essential properties of environmentally responsible products: long-term performance and long service life.

In the fall of 2001 Sarnafil International AG implemented an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. The system received certification in April 2002. The certification affirms that the company handles all environmentally relevant activities systematically and in conformance with the applicable standards.

We are committed to developing environmentally beneficial products and systems, and we are convinced that environmental responsibility is of strategic importance to our company. The obligation to continually improve the environmental performance of our products and processes is something we see as a chance to anchor and improve our long-term competitive position.

This report documents the environmental efforts and achievements made during the recent years. It compares key environmental performance indicators for 2002 against those of 2001. It also shows the areas in which we plan to concentrate our efforts to improve our environmental performance in 2003.
